MBORC Declared

MBORC stands for Matters Beyond Our Reasonable Control and is a term used by BT Openreach to describe events (usually natural) that affect their services.

Following the recent severe weather in many parts of the UK – storm conditions with extensive lightning strikes – Openreach’s infrastructure, both above and below ground, has been seriously affected.

Openreach is therefore prioritising repair activities; which will have a knock on effect for those wishing to book engineer time for both repair and provision.

The MBORC was declared from 23:59 8 July 2015 at the following locations:

  • Highlands and Islands
  • North East Scotland
  • South East Scotland
  • Durham and Tees Valley
  • South Yourkshire
  • Derby & Notts
  • Leicester
  • Coventry
  • Peterborough
  • Bournemouth
  • Broadlands
  • St. Albans
  • Truro

UPDATE: Openreach has now removed the MBORC and the above locations are no longer affected.

Openreach has assured us that additional resource has been allocated to these areas in an effort to bring things back to normal as quickly as possible.  The MBORC will be removed as soon as service can be restored to the levels they were at immediately before the severe weather.  We’ll keep you updated as and when we have further news.
